About NashanaBlue
The Path I Didn’t Expect
I didn’t set out to become a beekeeper. At the time, I was thinking a lot about what it would mean to become more self-sufficient. I was drawn to homesteading, to the land, and to learning how to do more for myself. I started thinking about the things I would need to know, but also about the kind of life I actually wanted to live.
Bees were part of that vision, although I imagined they would come much later. Somehow, they came sooner.
What I didn’t expect was how deeply I would become invested in them. I found myself thinking about the hive long after I had closed it up, questioning what I had seen, wondering what I could have done differently, and wanting to understand more.
In a way, I feel like beekeeping found me.
And it changed the way I paid attention to the world around me. I became more aware of the land, the plants growing around me, the changing seasons, and even the creatures I once would have preferred not to encounter. I began to understand that all of it was connected.
My interest in herbs came from another deeply personal place. I wanted to learn more about caring for my body, reconnecting with ancestral ways of healing, and understanding what I could grow, gather, and make with my own hands.
The bees did not create my desire to live closer to the land or become more self-sufficient. That was already there. But they brought something out of me. They taught me to pay attention. They made me more observant, more patient, and more willing to trust that I could learn things that once felt completely outside of my world.
NashanaBlue has grown from all of those pieces.
It’s not only about beekeeping or herbalism. It is about returning to what feels natural to me, learning what I am capable of doing for myself, creating with what is around me, and continuing to discover the kind of life I want to live.
I’m still becoming. NashanaBlue gives me a place to share what I find along the way.
